Hello,
I've recently started testing a P2V operation on a Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 system. Everything works mostly fine but I get this nagging problem where the guest OS (WS2008R2) is extremely slow when booting, right after installing VMware Tools. After the Windows logo it takes approximately 10 minutes before showing the logon screen whereas with the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter it takes less than 30 seconds. I have searched and searched but the only mention to this is because of either using the wrong VMware Tools version or using the SVGA II driver. I have used the latest VMware Tools (v10) available and have yet to find a solution to this issue. I have even gone as far as downloading VMware Tools v4 and trying both the SVGA 3D driver and the SVGA II driver, but I get the same result with both, around 10 minutes to reach the logon screen. The only thing that always works is uninstalling the SVGA drivers and rebooting without them, but then I get the choppy console with no graphics acceleration.
Host system is also Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, VMware Workstation 12, VMware Tools (latest). I'm not sure which other details I should share that might be useful.
Any ideas on what might be behind this?
Thanks!
