Running ESX 5.5.
I have a 4 drive raid5 array composed of 8gb/s 12TB Seagates on a LSI Logic LSI LSI00415 MegaRAID SAS 9361-4i controller.
I need to copy data from another drive onto the raid 5 datastore.
The drive comes from a Seagate Expansion Desk USB enclosure and I installed onto onboard Supermicro sata controller running ESX5.5 on the machine separately from the LSI controller.
I have mapped the Seagate as raw device on ESX and copying 7TB worth of data onto the RAID5 esx datastore using Windows 2012 vm
I am getting throughput rates of about 15-40MB/s
Is that to be expected? Would this be due to the ESX mapping as I would have expected a higher throughput rate on this.
